Amy's reading from funeral.

During the last few hours of Steve's life, I told him that all his friends and family were thinking about him and all were sending their love. His response was that he loves them all. And I believe he does.

I don't actually know how it is possible to have so many friends, so many friends that may as well just be family. But Steve was a man with a very big heart and he had room for every single one of you in it. He was such a selfless man that he would have done anything for his friends and family.

He didn't want fancy or expensive things in life, he just wanted to and loved spending time with us all.

When the dr told him that he had a few days, maybe a week left with us, we all knew he could go on 3 week if he wanted to! He was so determined to fight to the end and he never once gave up. But I honestly Believe when he was given that prognosis, he pondered on it and thought, 'do you know what, I'm not going to drag this out a week, I'm not going to put my family & friends through it.' And being the determined and very very brave man he is, he put us first again.

Thank you steve for always thinking about us.

So I've got a reading that I would like to share, and it's mainly the last verse that I like. I think it is exactly what Steve would say to us all now if he could. It's an adaptation of farewell farewell my friends.

'It was beautiful as long as it lasted, the journey of my life, I have no regrets whatsoever, accept the pain I'll leave behind.
Your dear hearts who love and care, the smiles in spite of pain, the strings pulling at the heart and soul, with eyes that show the strain.
Your strong arms that held me up when my own strength let me down, each gesture that you gave with love, took away my frown.
At every turning of my life I came across good mates, friends who stood by my side, especially of late.
Farewell farewell my great friends, I smile and bid you goodbye.
No, shed no tears, for I need them not, all I need is your smile, If you feel sad, do think of me, as that's what I will like, for when you live in the hearts of those that you love, remember... you never die.'

And Steve will live on and hold a special place in all of our hearts forever.

God bless Steve, we love you always xx
